Earl and Mary Redner and Gary W. Redner Scholarship Fund

Earl Redner, and his wife, Mary, founded the first two Redner’s stores in 1970. The idea came to him to open the first employee-owned grocery store because he had worked in the food industry since he was just 16 years old and saw firsthand how employee-management relationships could easily crumble. Mary pitched in her savings account from teaching and, along with Earl’s stock holdings, Redner’s Markets became a reality. Since then, the company has grown but has stayed in the family and retained all the same values as when it started. To further give back to their employees, the scholarship funds were created in memory of Earl and Mary Redner and their son, the late Gary W. Redner.
