Marion L. and Ernest L. Angstadt Scholarship Fund
Though Marion Angstadt was born in Philadelphia, she calls the Kutztown area home. She and her husband Ernest were farming in this area since their marriage in 1944. Marion kept busy in the home, cooking and cleaning while Ernest farmed their 100 acres. She did help with the chickens, but preferred gardening and canning. They were both active in the Zion Lutheran Church in Maxatawny Township. Marion taught the adult Bible class for 28 years and occasionally taught Vacation Bible School, and Ernest served on the Board of Trustees of the Lutheran Home at Topton. When Ernest passed in 2014, she set up this scholarship in his memory. The goal of the scholarship is to provide financial support for students studying agricultural science. She recognizes the importance of preserving and caring for the land here, and appreciating its natural beauty. The couple loved their land, their profession, and their community, and chose to give back.
