Haupt Family Fund (For mechanical/automotive technology field, or a Wilson High School student majoring in engineering)
This fund was established in 2016 by the three daughters of Marjorie and Wilbur Haupt to honor their parent’s memory. Marjorie Haupt was raised in New York City, graduated from Cornell University, and was employed by the County of Oswego, New York, as a social worker. Marjorie’s long career in social work focused on child welfare, children’s mental health, and children in the foster care system. Wilbur was raised in Berks County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute and later from Cornell University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and throughout the years was employed at Textile Machine Works, Sealright, Inc., Martin Gillette, and owned and operated a Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership in Watkins Glen, NY. Wilbur loved cars – old and new – and was a member of various car clubs in Michigan and Kansas. While at Cornell, Marjorie met Wilbur and they married in 1948. Together they shared 66 years of marriage. They spent the latter part of their lives in Overland Park, Kansas. Wilbur passed away in 2014, and Marjorie passed away in 2016.
