Hispanic Center Scholarship Fund - Non-Traditional Student Application
One or more scholarships will be awarded annually to a resident of Berks County who will be pursuing post-secondary, undergraduate education at an accredited institution and whose ethnic background originates from Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Central America or South America. An undergraduate is a student who is pursuing education after graduating from high school and who has not you received a bachelor’s degree. GRADUATE STUDENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY. A graduate student is a student who has already received a bachelor’s degree.
*This “NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT” application may be completed by Berks county residents who meet the above criteria AND who are: *
1. Current high school seniors or individuals of any age who have a high school diploma or GED and are responsible for raising his or her child or children and intend to enter an institution of higher education as full-time OR part-time students; or
2. Individuals of any age who have at some time received a high school diploma or GED and intend to enter an institution of higher education as part-time students; or
3. Individuals who have at some time received a high school diploma or GED, age 25 and above at time of application, and intend to enter an institution of higher education as full-time students; or
4. Current undergraduate students, age 25 and above at time of application, presently enrolled at an institution of higher education as full-time or part-time students.
Scholarship applicants shall exhibit a commitment to past academic achievement. The recipients will be involved in community activities, along with raising a family and/or holding down a job. The intent is to acknowledge and encourage those individuals who have demonstrated a level of personal responsibility necessary to attend and succeed in a continuing education institution, and who have a financial need.
Past recipients may reapply each year and will be reconsidered along with all other applicants. This is not a requirement, however, applicants are encouraged to file the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FASFA) form by March 1. To be considered for this scholarship, submit this application between January 15th and March 15th. All applicants will be notified in May.

- Request a recommendation from someone who knows you well (professor, teacher, school official, counselor, clergy, employer, advisor, or community leader). Do not request a reference from a family member or friend. Enter the reference provider's name and email address. You should notify this individual to expect an email from us, and encourage him or her to complete the request on-line in a timely manner so your application can be considered.
